たった4人の参加者からオリンピア出場者を決めて良いのか

2020年の9月最初の週末に韓国で行われたプロショーが物議を醸しております．

これは，たった4人の出場者にもかかわらず，優勝者にミスターオリンピアの出場権が与えられたためです．

今回はこのニュースを皆さんとシェアしたいと思います！

物議を醸している韓国のプロショー

今回，韓国で物議を醸しているプロショーは，2020 Monsterzym Proになります．このコンテストは，2019年には山岸秀匡選手も出場し，見事，優勝を飾ったのが記憶に新しいです．

今回，このコンテストが物議を醸しているのは以下のスコアカードを見れば理解することができます．

優勝者にプロクオリファイが与えられるコンテストであるため，規模が大きいのかと思いきや4人しか出場していません．

今回は，特にオープンクラスボディビルディングを取り上げていますが，他のカテゴリーでも似た様な状況になっています．

After originally being scheduled for Aug 21~23 the show was forced to shut down due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases caused by an Aug 15th political gathering event. South Korea’s social distancing rules were elevated to level 2.5 and there was no way for us to guarantee when we could hold our show. We understand that complying with the government and protecting ourselves from a global pandemic is of utmost importance. However, we also understood that there were competitors eager to compete at our show – eager enough to travel overseas and undergo a 14day quarantine just to present their hard work. As a promoter, we at Monsterzym pride ourselves on our media, production, and the experience we are able to provide those who not only compete but also attend our shows as spectators. In order for us to have any chance of holding the show, we decided to sacrifice the essence of what we work for and do what we believe was right by the competitors who have worked so hard. The athletes of our sport always come first. After endless discussions with the government and the local health officials assigned to our venue, we were able to come to an agreement that our show could be held only if all participating staff & athletes were to comply with the conditions of their contract: no cell phones, no spectators, no live broadcast, and absolutely no publication or media release of the event until further notice. Any persons who planned to set foot in our venue was required to be tested negative for COVID-19 at least a day before and must also prove a negative outcome 10 days after the last show date as initial testing is not deemed completely accurate. Until these conditions were fulfilled, all details of our show were forced to remain confidential. We appreciate everyone who has patiently waited for the outcome of our show, our staff who has diligently worked to make this happen, IFBB Professional League for their support and understanding, and the athletes who have

上の写真の左側の選手になります．優勝したということで，やはり素晴らしい肉体をしているのですが，なんとなく釈然としないのは私だけなのでしょうか．

終わりに…

私が確認した限りでは，男子のすべてのカテゴリーの優勝者は韓国人の選手でした．

新型コロナウイルスの影響で開催されるコンテストの数が制限されており，たとえ開催されても出場要件が厳しいこともあることから例年とは全くことなる形で開催されているプロショーなのですが，果たして，今回の様な形で開催することが「選手のため」，「ミスターオリンピアのため」になるのか疑問が残るところです．

今回の様な規模のコンテストでオリンピアの出場権を獲得すれば，確実にその選手は批判の的となりますし，長い目で見て，選手が成長するという点で簡単に出場できて良いのでしょうか．

オリンピアは，出場制限が厳しいからこそ，大会としての威厳があるわけであり，今回の様な規模のコンテストでも優勝者にオリンピアの出場権を与えるという方策を取っていると，オリンピアの威厳を損なう様な気がします．

個人的には，「なんだかな…」と思う，2020 Monsterzym Proでした．
