After months of speculation, one of the year’s most exciting storylines has been confirmed. Flex Lewis will return to the Olympia stage this year in pursuit of bodybuilding’s most coveted title. 今回の投稿ですが，ミスターオリンピア側から公式の発表があり，それについてフレックスルイスも反応して今回の投稿をしております．この投稿から伺える様に，恐らく彼がオープンクラスにて復帰するのは確かな様ですね．

フレックスルイスのオープンクラス復帰が意味すること

ミスターオリンピアでは，あるカテゴリーで優勝すると，その優勝したカテゴリーでの出場権を半永久的に得ることになりますが，他のカテゴリーで出場するには該当カテゴリーにて再び出場権を獲得する必要があります．実際に，ミスターオリンピアのヘッドジャッジを務めるSteve Weinvergerもその様に答えていましたしね．

そのため，フレックスですが，212ポンドクラスで7度のチャンピンに輝いてはおりますが，オープンクラスでミスターオリンピアに出場するためにはオープンクラスでコンテストに出場することでポイントを稼ぎ，その上位にくる必要がありました．年間にコンテストに複数出場するということは，自身の体のピークを複数回持ってくる必要があるため，本番であるミスターオリンピアに向けた調整も非常に難しくなります．事実，フレックスルイスは，もう何年も年間に1回しかコンテストの出場していなかったため，1年に複数回のコンテストに出場するためのコンディション調整にはかなり苦戦すると思っていました．

今回，スペシャルインバイトを受け取ったことで，ミスターオリンピア本番に集中して取り組むことができ非常に楽しみですね．

彼は元々，オープンクラスの選手であり，古くはオリンピアで202ポンドというクラスができてそちらに移動して大成した選手でした．彼は166cmと身長がそこまで高くないため，サイズがオープンクラスと比較して必要ない202ポンドのクラスに移動したのですが，近年ではウィリアムボナックなど身長が170cm位で体重もフレックスのオフシーズンからの減量を考えると決して非現実的な体重ではない選手が活躍しているのもあり，彼はオープンクラスの復帰するのを決意したそうです．

212ポンドであれだけの仕上がりですから，これでオープンクラスのサイズ感がでたら「どうなってしまうのか！？」というのが個人的な感想です．
